why untitled, unwritten?

I once labeled everything before it was written, until I found it kept too many words away. Now I am leaving the unwritten untitled, until it grows into a name.

No. 55: Gilead

This post is better late than never, right?  We are moving in two days and I'm packing all.my.stuff.  I have whittled it down, but there is still too much!

In that spirit, I have a book to offer: Gilead, by Marilynne Robinson.  It's the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, a bestseller, and altogether a magnificent book, from what I understand.  Yet I have not managed to read it.  I adored Robinson's Housekeeping and mulled over it for days, but every time I try to read Gilead, I end up doing something else.  Even though I actually like what I've read in the first third of the book, I don't have the time to finish it.

Here's where you come in: this book is sitting unloved and unread on my shelf, and I am giving it away.  All you need to do to get a chance is leave a comment telling me about a book you've meant to read and haven't gotten to yet.  I'll choose a winner via random.org on Sunday the twenty-third and announce it in Monday's blog post.  Be sure to leave me a way to contact you!

p.s. Follow me on instagram to see what book I give away next week as soon as I pick it! I'm @liltoiloflove.

*edit: I forgot the time I'll actually close the entries.  Enter by Sunday at 9 pm EST.

That's funny... I think everyone has a book or two. Honestly I feel that all I get to do now days is read professional development books, and that's no fun.

Book on my shelf that I need to scrape time together for is "Rich Dad, Poor Dad"

Hello,
This summer I found myself looking at your blog after seeing a link for it on English Muse. I felt lucky to have found it when I did because I didn't know it yet but I was in kind of a rut when it came to finding a great book. I enjoyed some of your quotes from "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "The History of Love". I decided to purchase both. I am half way through "TULOB" and just moments ago turned the last page of "The History of Love" with tears of joy and sadness streaming down my face. I felt that I should thank you for guiding me to these characters and adventures. It made my summer dreamy and inspiring. Thank you and please keep posting! (:
Kind Regards, Ashley

Oh my gosh. I hesitate to even enter your giveaway hoping to win, hoping I don't. You see the stack of "meant to read" is seriously out of control. My rule of "you absolutely cannot bring home another book until you read the ones you have" has failed miserably. I just cannot resist the unresistable! So here I am...letting the desire of a new adventure, new wisdom, some different insight sweep me away. Let fate decide my luck...my email is misgifmaker@cox.net.
